Julia Michaels and Ben Rice join Kyle Meredith to discuss scoring Disney’s newest animated feature, Wish.

The songwriting duo discuss the process of landing a Disney soundtrack, the honor of writing for the studio’s 100th anniversary, and the emotions that have stuck around ever since. Michaels and Rice go on to talk about the ways they had to change their typical songwriting styles, writing for ensembles and imaginary characters, and working  alongside composer David Metzger.

In particular, the pair chat about creating the soundtrack songs “I’m a Star,” “Welcome to Rosas,” and “Knowing What I Know Now,” before Michaels teases what’s next for her in her own career.
