Cher has joined the crop of fellow artists who’ve made their distaste for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame abundantly clear, saying in a recent interview that the folks behind the organization “can just go you-know-what themselves.”
The pop legend was a guest on a recent episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, during which host Clarkson pointed out that Cher has No. 1 hits spanning seven decades — a milestone she shares only with The Rolling Stones.
“It took four of them to be one of me,” Cher said with a laugh. “And I’m not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame! You know what, I wouldn’t be in it now if they gave me a million dollars. I’m not kidding you. I was about to say something else — I was about to say I’m not shitting you. I’m never changing my mind. They can just go you-know-what themselves.”
As Ultimate Classic Rock points out, Cher has been eligible for Rock Hall Induction since 1991, but hasn’t ever even received a nomination. She achieved her first No. 1 hit with the 1965 Sonny and Cher hit “I Got You, Babe,” and this October’s “DJ Play a Christmas Song” topped the Billboard Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart.

The Rock Hall Class of 2023 included Rage Against the Machine, Willie Nelson, Missy Elliott, and Kate Bush, just to name a few. As for Cher, her Christmas album is out now, featuring contributions from Stevie Wonder, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Bublé, and even Tyga.
