Forget hell freezing over — what happens when New York City freezes over? Who ya gonna call? The busters of any g-h-o-s-t, of course, as revealed in the new trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.

Set to slime theatergoers on March 29th, 2024, Frozen Empire serves as a direct sequel to 2021’s revival Ghostbusters: Afterlife, making it the fourth in the core Ghostbusters series. After embracing their family legacy in the last film, the Spenglers — Phoebe (Mckenna Grace), Trevor (Finn Wolfhard), and Callie (Carrie Coon) — have relocated to NYC, moving into the iconic firehouse. Operating as the new Ghostbusters, they’ve brought along their friends Gary Grooberson (Paul Rudd), Lucky Domingo (Celeste O’Connor), and Podcast (Logan Kim) as they pick up their predecessors’ neutrona wands.

But it seems the Big Apple is set to give our heroes an icy welcome, as the mysterious and deadly “death chill” plunges the city into a deep freeze in the middle of a summer heat wave. With the help of OG GBs Venkman (Bill Murray), Stantz (Dan Aykroyd), and Zeddemore (Ernie Hudson), as well as new cast members Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind, it’s up to the new Ghostbusters to trap the demon-like advisory at the center of this big chill.

Directed by Gil Kenan, the movie was co-written by Kenan and Jason Reitman, son of Ghostbusters director Ivan Reitman. The elder Reitman passed away in 2022, making this the first Ghostbusters movie made without his direct involvement. William Atherton is set to reportedly reprising his role of EPA inspector Walter Peck from the original film.
