U2 have expanded their ongoing Las Vegas residency at the MSG Sphere, “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere” (get tickets here).
As the title suggests, the Irish band’s latest set will celebrate their 1991 LP Achtung Baby, while also ushering in the Strip’s new $2.3 billion, state-of-the-art performance venue at The Venetian, as previewed in the tour’s announcement video. Revisit our recap of the opening night here.
“U2 hasn’t played live since December 2019 and we need to get back on stage and see the faces of our fans again,” the group shared in a statement. “And what a unique stage they’re building for us out there in the desert… We’re the right band, Achtung Baby the right album, and Sphere the right venue to take the live experience of music to the next level.”

What Is U2’s Las Vegas Residency?
The “U2:UV Achtung Baby Live At Sphere” residency launched on Friday, September 29th. The performances initially spanned 25 shows into the end of 2023, but now extended through early March.
Update: U2 have confirmed four additional shows at the Sphere for February 23rd and 24th and March 1st and 2nd. These will mark the final four shows of their residency.
The performances will take place in the Sphere, a brand new $1.8 billion, 20,000-seat performance venue housed near The Venetian on the Vegas strip. It boasts 580,000 square feet of LED paneling, 170,000 ultra-directional speakers that utilize beamforming technology to deliver targeted audio to every seat in the venue, and a haptic flooring system, among many other high-tech features.

Who Is Opening for U2?
There has been no information shared regarding potential openers or special guests, but U2’s lineup will see a notable change as drummer Larry Mullen Jr. sits out the initial set in order to recover from surgery. Instead, Bram van den Berg of the Dutch band Krezip will cover the kit for the Irish quartet.
