The Texas Rangers have been riding high during the Major League Baseball playoffs thus far, sweeping the Tampa Bay Rays in the Wild Card round and going up 2-0 in their current American League Division Series with the Baltimore Orioles. So, what’s fueling the team’s success? According to pitcher Andrew Heaney, it’s none other than the uplifting music of Creed.

Per Rangers play-by-play broadcaster Jared Sandler, Heaney just revealed that the team began blasting Creed in their locker room during the second half of the regular season, and it’s been inspiring the players ever since. Now, the pitcher is hoping that Creed’s music will be blasting from the speakers of Globe Life Field when the Rangers return home for playoff games against the Orioles on Tuesday (October 10th) and, if necessary, Wednesday (October 11th).

Sandler wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Andrew Heaney just shared that as the team was going through the rollercoaster of the second half, they started having fun and playing Creed before games. He said that if Creed was played at GLF on Tuesday or Wednesday and fans started belting out the song, it would fire them up!”

It remains to be seen if Creed’s music can take the Rangers even higher as the playoffs roll on, but for now Heaney and the rest of the team are welcoming the band’s songs with arms wide open.

Update, October 10th: Texas Rangers fans answered Heaney’s wish, belting out “Higher” at the team’s home game on Tuesday night. Watch here.

If the Rangers go on to win the World Series, Heaney and company may look to book a celebratory trip on the Summer of ’99 and Summer of ’99 and Beyond cruises. A reunited Creed will be playing their first shows in more than a decade on the back-to-back cruises in April 2024.
