Origins is a recurring series that gives artists a space to break down everything that went into their latest release. Today, Lindsey Lomis takes us through her new single, “Outta Sight (On My Mind).”

“This song is the start of a brand new phase,” Lindsey Lomis tells Consequence about her latest release, titled “Outta Sight (On My Mind).” “I’m a newly independent artist, I just moved to LA, I’m in a new relationship. I even got bangs.”

Bangs are, as we all know, the universal signifier of a fresh start, and the pop artist is enthusiastically turning the corner with this one. “Outta Sight (On My Mind)” features a lilting, flowy earworm of a chorus, stacked harmonies, and a funk-adjacent bassline, injected with tragically, comically relatable lyrics. “You’re superglued to my subconscious/ Thinking ’bout you makes me nauseous,” she sings.

“This song felt like it came out in two seconds,” she recalls. “I wrote it with my collaborators KOLE and Ariza. We wrote and produced the entire song in one day and barely touched it after that first day. It just felt right.”

After a breakout tour with Joshua Bassett, Lomis is currently supporting Bruno Major on his 2023 “Tour of Planet Earth,” tickets for which can be secured here.

Watch the video for “Outta Sight (On My Mind)” below, and read on for Lomis’ breakdown of the key points of the song.
