Guitarist Kirk Hammett has had a few rough moments on Metallica’s “M72 World Tour,” the most recent being a nasty tumble he took onstage during the band’s show in Detroit on Sunday (November 12th).

Video footage shows the guitar legend tripping and falling hard onto the stage right as the band finished playing “Moth Into Flame.” After laying on the ground for a few seconds, Hammett gets up and angrily tosses his purple ESP guitar across the stage toward his guitar tech. He then yells out a couple of profanities while walking off the stage.

He was able to quickly recover mentally and physically, returning to the stage to play the next song, “Fight Fire with Fire,” and finish out the rest of the set.

Prior shows, including the band’s set at the historic Power Trip festival in Indio, California, saw Hammett flubbing the intro to “Nothing Else Matters.” In each of those instances, he was able to laugh off the mistake and restart the song.
